Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory invites applications for an Electrical Systems Engineer. The role covers maintenance, operations, design, construction, and modification of low-voltage electrical systems and emergency power at LLNL facilities, with potential work at Site 300.

The position offers a hybrid schedule and one-day-per-week work-from-home flexibility. You will lead a team of technicians, oversee subcontractors, perform complex electrical studies, and ensure safety and code

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent with leadership ability.
  • Advanced experience in facility electrical distribution systems and backup power.
  • Experience designing low voltage systems (fire alarm, security, comms).
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical direction for electrical distribution systems and standby power.
  • Serve as Subcontract Technical Representative and manage safety, quality, and delivery.
  • Conduct electrical studies including short circuits, coordination, and arc flash analysis.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of failures to improve reliability of electrical systems.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings; review commissioning plans and training needs.
  • Coordinate with staff across organizational lines and support other duties as assigned.
