Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory seeks an Electrical Engineer to join the Electrical Controls and Structural Engineering team at the Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC). The role supports a 4x10 schedule with every Friday off and focuses on power transmission, distribution, and energy systems research.

You will collaborate with customers, perform analyses, review designs, and mentor junior staff while contributing to safe, reliable electrical infrastructure for national defense and energy initiatives.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in electrical engineering is required.
• Master's or PhD in electrical engineering with relevant experience is preferred.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoE security clearance are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed analyses on current power transmission and distribution systems.
• Apply electrical engineering principles to secure, resilient power systems.
• Design, develop, and execute electrical power-related experiments.
• Collaborate with customers to develop system alternatives and assess risks and costs.
• Provide design outputs reviews and approvals for changes and procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and other technical staff.
