Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Molten Salt R&D Engineer to work in our Advanced Technology of Molten Salts department. This role researches and develops new technologies for molten salts in nuclear applications, including fabrication, sensor development, and high-temperature property studies.

The position operates on a 4x10 schedule at the MFC facility with every Friday off and requires strong communication skills and a proven publication track record in molten salt engineering.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in chemical engineering, chemistry, nuclear engineering, materials science, or related ABET-accredited program.
• Hands-on molten salt engineering experience and publications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering R&D activities related to molten salt chemistry and chemical conversions.
• Conduct fundamental and applied research.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret test results; develop new testing methods.
• Present findings at conferences individually or with teams.
• Identify research opportunities and assist in proposals and funding.
