Job summary

AEP is seeking an Environmental Manager of Nuclear Development in Columbus, OH to lead and direct teams executing environmental permit, compliance, and management system activities. The role focuses on development, coordination, and execution of programs while aligning with AEP’s values and driving continuous improvement.

The position requires extensive leadership experience in environmental disciplines, strong collaboration with internal groups and external agencies, and the ability to travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental discipline or related field.
• Eight years of increasing responsibility in environmental management systems, studies, permitting or compliance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Travel – estimated at 10-25% of regular time.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate environmental permitting, programmatic compliance, and management system development within the assigned group.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership for assigned activities.
• Serve as focal point for the section’s activities and coordinate with directors for consistency.
• Develop and implement standard processes to optimize the group’s work.
• Monitor conformance to policies, standards, and processes.
• Engage in development and review of environmental regulations and R&D.
• Plan and coordinate necessary resources for the sub-group.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and salary recommendations.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and development for staff.
• Define performance expectations and reward alignment with business goals.
• Develop employees and establish plans for career goals.
• Manage remote sub-group operations in line with company expectations.
• Other duties as assigned.
