Job summary

Duke Energy in the United States is seeking Nuclear Engineer I/II to support instrument and control system design at the Oconee Nuclear Station. Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Engineering is required.
• MS may be considered in lieu of BS for certain candidates.
• Minimum nuclear power plant experience for level II is specified.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering modifications for electrical, instrumentation and control, digital, software, and cybersecurity-related systems.
• Define project scope, technical requirements, design basis, installation approach, testing, acceptance criteria, and turnover strategy.
• Prepare accurate engineering products such as calculations, specifications, drawings, design inputs, evaluations, setpoints, and test plans.
• Evaluate design alternatives, technical risk, operating experience, lifecycle needs, and stakeholder input.
• Develop conceptual designs and coordinate work by vendors and external firms.
• When qualified, serve as the Responsible Engineer for assigned modifications.
• Review installation work instructions to ensure translation of design into field activities.
• Provide field, outage, and implementation support with configuration control and design authority.
• Perform design reviews, cybersecurity assessments, licensing evaluations, and post-modification testing.
• Apply strong nuclear safety culture and rigorous procedure use; communicate clearly with teams.
