Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an on-site field engineer for the Surry Nuclear Power Plant. You will work with a project team on electrical system design and analysis, perform calculations, review drawings, and help ensure project success within schedule and budget.

Essential qualifications include a BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and 3+ years in power plant electrical design, with strong communication and teamwork skills. PE license is valued.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• 3+ years designing electrical systems for new plants or modifications in a project team environment.
• Experience with medium and low voltage distribution (transformers, generators, motors) and related calculations.
• Experience serving as firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
• Experience reviewing design drawings and ensuring accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and teamwork orientation.
• Detail-oriented approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Work onsite at Surry Nuclear Power Plant under electrical engineering lead or project manager.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve electrical engineering issues.
• Prepare detailed calculations (three-phase AC/DC, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting, relay settings).
• Prepare and review engineering input for drawings and reports.
• Review others' work and develop project work plans.
