Job summary

Southern Nuclear seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer III to support Extended Power Uprate (EPU) and capital modification projects at Plant Hatch. Lead electrical power system design, calculations, and design packages while ensuring QA and regulatory compliance.

The role requires nuclear power plant modification experience, strong leadership, and ability to coordinate cross-functional teams. Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 6–10 years of related electrical engineering experience.
• Nuclear power plant capital modifications experience required.
• Experience with electrical power system design in commercial power generation.
• Strong knowledge of engineering design processes and configuration management.
• Working knowledge of electrical codes, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) and Owner’s Acceptance Reviewer for plant modification projects.
• Lead electrical engineering activities supporting EPU and capital modification projects.
• Develop and review engineering scopes, schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and design packages.
• Prepare and review single-line diagrams, elementary diagrams, wiring diagrams, electrical layouts, equipment specifications, and circuitry designs.
• Perform and review engineering calculations, analyses, technical evaluations, and design change packages.
• Ensure deliverables comply with plant procedures, regulatory requirements, and QA programs.
• Support installation, testing, turnover, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Licensing, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Management teams.
• Maintain nuclear safety, design basis compliance, configuration control, and regulatory commitments throughout project execution.
