Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of related electrical engineering experience.
  • Nuclear power plant capital modifications experience required.
  • Experience with electrical power system design in commercial power generation.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design processes and configuration management.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) and Owner’s Acceptance Reviewer for plant modification projects.
  • Lead electrical engineering activities supporting EPU and capital modification projects.
  • Develop and review engineering scopes, schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and design packages.
  • Prepare and review single-line diagrams, elementary diagrams, wiring diagrams, electrical layouts, equipment specifications, and circuitry designs.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations, analyses, technical evaluations, and design change packages.
  • Ensure deliverables comply with plant procedures, regulatory requirements, and QA programs.
  • Support installation, testing, turnover, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Licensing, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Management teams.
  • Maintain nuclear safety, design basis compliance, configuration control, and regulatory commitments throughout project execution.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer III to support Extended Power Uprate (EPU) and capital modification projects at Plant Hatch. This role will provide technical leadership for electrical power system design, engineering calculations, design packages, project execution, and Owner’s Acceptance reviews.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with commercial nuclear power plant modifications, electrical power systems, design control, configuration management, and nuclear quality assurance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) and Owner’s Acceptance Reviewer for assigned plant modification projects.
  • Lead electrical engineering activities supporting EPU and capital modification projects.
  • Develop and review engineering scopes, schedules, budgets, cost estimates, and design packages.
  • Prepare and review:
    • Single-line diagrams
    • Elementary diagrams
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Electrical layouts
    • Equipment specifications

    • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
    • Protective relaying
    • Power distribution systems
  • Experience supporting Extended Power Uprate (EPU) projects or major plant modernization programs.
  • Knowledge of NRC regulations and Appendix B Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and design details.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects in a multidisciplinary environment.
