Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions in Lenexa, KS (and Oak Ridge, TN) seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our design engineering team. The role focuses on mid-level electrical design for industrial and nuclear power projects, applying practical engineering with a willingness to travel.

You will work with ETAP for AC/DC studies, develop equipment specifications, perform constructability reviews, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, cost-efficient designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of electrical system design experience for industrial or nuclear projects.
• Proficient in selecting equipment, calculations, and specifications.
• PE license or ability to obtain; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Power System Studies: Conduct detailed AC/DC calculations and relay coordination.
• Procurement & Vendor Support: Develop equipment specs and review bid responses.
• Design Development: Prepare scoping docs, constructability reviews, lighting, comms, and security systems.
• Collaboration & Client Interface: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
• Travel: Visit client/vendor offices and plant sites for design reviews.
