Job summary

Averro is seeking a System Design Engineer to support an advanced nuclear project focused on the Control Rod Drive system. You will collaborate with project managers, design engineers, analysts, test engineers, and other specialties to deliver high‑quality design outputs.

Responsibilities include defining requirements, creating and maintaining design documentation, and aligning multidisciplinary teams across nuclear, thermal, mechanical, I&C, and civil–structural domains.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of relevant experience with proven mechanical skills.
• Experience in designing complex structures and multi-discipline integration.
• Knowledge of design control tools and industry standards (ASME BPVC, ISO 9001).
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design nuclear and industrial mechanical systems, including requirements, analysis, specs, and drawings.
• Develop and maintain system architecture and design documentation (DBDs, P&IDs, Logic Diagrams, ICDs).
• Establish design bases with regulatory criteria and performance criteria.
• Drive alignment across multidisciplinary teams to implement system requirements.
• Evaluate development strategies for technologies and approaches.
• Support lifecycle factors: operability, maintainability, reliability.
• Manage interfaces with suppliers and review deliverables.
• Provide technical direction and coordinate supplier projects and reviews.
• Prepare change packages with calculations, reports, drawings, and specs.
• Promote nuclear industry best practices to ensure design quality.
• Support licensing activities for construction and operating licenses.
• Participate in project design reviews to verify compliance.
