Job summary

Averro in New York seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, ceramic, and nuclear engineers designing and qualifying radiation sensors and related equipment.

You will own scheduling, performance development, and cross‑functional partnerships with Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management to ensure on‑time delivery and strong program health in a highly regulated, safety‑critical environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Ceramic, or Nuclear) required; MS/MBA a plus.
• 8+ years engineering experience with 3+ years leading an engineering team (5+ engineers preferred).
• Strong prioritisation, coaching, talent development, and cross-functional negotiation.
• Understanding of extreme-environment engineering and formal qualification testing.
• Financial acumen with forecasting and CAPEX justification.
• Strong written and executive communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop ~12 engineers, including one-on-ones and performance reviews.
• Set priorities, sequence work, and balance workload across concurrent projects.
• Own engineering schedule commitments and report progress to Program Management.
• Represent engineering in cross-functional forums and customer interactions.
• Own the group's financial performance including annual planning and CAPEX requests.
• Build training plans and support recruiting and onboarding.
• Champion Nuclear Safety Culture and human performance fundamentals.
