Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Nuclear Engineer Associate to Principal to lead and manage the Safety and Relief Valve and related nuclear engineering programs. The role requires strong technical knowledge, program ownership experience, and a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

The position is based in Bridgman, Michigan with on-site outage work and a 4x10 schedule. ABET accreditation and PE licensing readiness are preferred for progression through salary grades.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering accredited by ABET; Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination encouraged for PE licensing.
ABET accreditation process and standards awareness.
Experience with nuclear engineering programs ownership and code-related programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

Owns and manages intermediate to advanced engineering tasks within the Nuclear Engineering Program.
Lead program activities including safety, regulatory compliance, and maintenance strategies.
Provide technical support for investigations, regulatory correspondence, and design modifications.
Monitor component performance through field walkdowns, trending, and risk mitigation.
