Job summary

The Nuclear Company is seeking a Compliance Manager to own legal and regulatory compliance for a new, highly regulated nuclear energy venture. You will be the first dedicated compliance hire, ensuring that development, financing, construction, and operation meet regulators, investors, and the law.

You will interpret complex requirements, translate them for engineers and executives, and partner with Brookfield to accelerate safe, compliant progress.

Qualifications

• J.D. with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of legal or compliance experience in regulated environments.
• Experience in safety-critical, government-facing industries such as nuclear, energy, utilities, defense, aerospace, or infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Advise leadership on legal and regulatory obligations across the nuclear project lifecycle (siting, licensing, development, construction, operations).
• Monitor and interpret requirements under the Atomic Energy Act, NRC regulations (including 10 CFR), Department of Energy requirements, and other applicable laws.
• Manage export controls and sanctions compliance (10 CFR Part 810, EAR, ITAR) and FOIA/FOCI considerations.
• Support facility and personnel security obligations including clearances and controlled unclassified information.
• Oversee anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance (FCPA) and due diligence on partners and vendors.
• Ensure government contracting, procurement, and grant/loan program compliance (conflicts of interest, gifts).
• Administer code of conduct, ethics, and whistleblower channels; investigate concerns.
• Provide practical training and guidance tailored to technical audiences.
• Coordinate with outside counsel, regulators, auditors, and investors on inquiries and audits.
• Review contracts for compliance terms in collaboration with the Legal team.
• Report to senior leadership and board on compliance risks and remediation strategies.
