Job summary

nVent in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a production and manufacturing engineering support professional. You will fix equipment issues, develop ideas, and drive safety and lean improvements in a fast-paced, high-output environment.

The role involves layout planning, testing of automated equipment, and developing work instructions to streamline production and ensure smooth transitions for new products into standard production.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training).
  • 2-years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with Automated Manufacturing Equipment and End of Line testing.

Responsibilities

  • Support production and manufacturing engineering by fixing equipment issues and driving safety improvements.

Job description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role supports the production and manufacturing engineering team by fixing equipment issues. It also develops new ideas and solutions and drives safety improvements daily. Assist with layout planning, installation, and testing of automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment. Execute core testing, aid in developing functional testing processes and assist in developing work instructions. Ensure a seamless transition for new products into standard production by providing support and training. Work with a sense of urgency in a fast paced, high output environment on a variety of short-term projects. Support and implement Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement activities. Work with vendors/suppliers to procure and install tooling, fixtures, and/or equipment. Document the processes used in building products. Recommend product improvement and maintain standard drawings/specs. Provide documentation for estimating the cost of materials and labor of manufactured product. Support daily production through solving, testing, and validation of product.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Ability to network across multiple functions. Ability to show initiative, be a self-starter and be able to work with little to no supervision. Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstance and have the ability to thrive in a constantly changing business environment. Ability to use computer programs including MS Office, MRP (JD Edwards preferred), SolidWorks, etc. - intermediate level. Ability to process engineering change orders (ECO’s) as they relate to bills of material and product routings. Ability to document processes in work instructions format. Knowledge on DFM (Design for Manufacturability) to provide input for new and existing products. Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.

  • Knowledge of product costing labor and material.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training). 2-years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with Automated Manufacturing Equipment. Experience with End of Line testing. Experience with helium testing. Experience with functional testing.

nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply. Compensation Range: $23.90 - $44.40 Per Hour Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
