Job summary

L2x Talent Solutions seeks a Manufacturing Engineer in Mount Prospect, IL to design and optimize workstations, fixtures and tooling, using SolidWorks or CREO. You will support sourcing of new machinery, FAT, and capital expenditure requests while improving metal fabrication and assembly processes for quality and efficiency.

You will lead PFMEA activity, apply 8D/DMAIC, and ensure manufacturability through DFM/DFA principles.

Qualifications

Engineering degree required with 2+ years in sheet metal/fabrication manufacturing.
Hands-on shop-floor experience troubleshooting and improving processes.
Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, SOPs and process sheets.

Responsibilities

Design and modify workstations, fixtures, tooling, and layouts using CAD tools (SolidWorks/CREO).
Support sourcing and procurement of assembly machinery, FAT, and CAPEX requests.
Develop and improve manufacturing processes for metal fabrication and assembly to boost quality and efficiency.
Conduct PFMEA and other risk assessments; apply 8D and DMAIC methodologies.
Analyze and optimize metal fabrication processes (sheet metal stamping, welding, forming, cutting, etc.).
Apply DFM and DFA to improve manufacturability and tolerances.
Design welding jigs and fixtures to improve consistency and productivity.
Create and maintain process plans, routings, MBOMs in ERP, and support NPI activities.
On-floor ownership: identify issues, drive improvements, train operators and teams.
