Job summary

Symrise Elyria is seeking an NPI/IPI Engineer to lead scale-up from new product introduction to commercialization. You'll become a SME for powder blending technologies and work across R&T, supply chain, quality, engineering, and production to drive improvements.

The role requires a bachelor’s in chemistry/chemical engineering or related field and at least 3 years in a food manufacturing setting, with strong Lean/Six Sigma and problem-solving skills. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering / Food Science / Food Technology / Pharmaceutical or related fields.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Experience with powder blending technologies is highly desired.
• Chemical engineering background is desired.
• Lean/Six Sigma experience is a plus.
• Experience with liquid compounding, spray drying, reaction flavors, or encapsulation technologies is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Scale up and first production for new products.
• Provide accurate mixing instructions to production.
• Daily presence in the field to support production.
• Investigate quality deviations and customer complaints with cross-functional teams.
• Promote product and process safety with operators.
• Create training instructions for production operators.
• Contribute to product and process optimization to increase profitability.
• Interface between R&T, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and contractors.
• Be SME on production technologies and formulations.
• Carry product measurements and feedback to R&T and Production.
• Execute qualifications and validation of new processes and equipment.
