Job summary

Arete in Healdsburg, CA, seeks a NPI Test Engineering Technician to assist in developing, assembling, testing, and troubleshooting stabilized optical gimbal systems used in advanced imaging and motion platforms.

You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure precision and reliability, perform diagnostics, and contribute to NCRs and lab procedures. This full-time, non-exempt role requires travel up to 20% and US citizenship for security clearance.

Qualifications

Strong foundation in electronics and mechanical systems with hands-on assembly, tuning, and troubleshooting of electromechanical devices.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Skilled with hand tools, torque tools, soldering, crimping, and precision measurement equipment.
Demonstrated experience with basic electronics test equipment (e.g., AC/DC power supplies, digital multimeters).
Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Effective communicator able to work independently and within a team environment.
Familiarity with ERP systems and lab management practices, including tool tracking and maintenance scheduling.
Strong organizational skills and eagerness to learn; ability to take direction from engineering and program management.
Customer-focused mindset with the ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders.
U.S. Citizenship required; must pass a background check and drug screening; security clearance required.

Responsibilities

Assemble, test, and troubleshoot stabilized optical gimbal systems and complex electromechanical assemblies.
Perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on optics, electronics, mechanical assemblies, PCAs, cabling, and control systems.
Set up and operate test apparatus; calibrate as needed.
Identify root causes of failures and generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Conduct functional and performance testing using specialized equipment.
Collaborate with engineering to improve designs and support documentation.
Interface with suppliers and customers; support lab and field-testing activities.
Ensure timely completion of tasks to meet delivery schedules.
Document assembly and test results; develop procedures, fixtures, and tracking systems.
