Job summary

HP in Spring, TX is seeking an NPI Mechanical Quality Engineer to drive product quality throughout the NPI lifecycle. You will partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate designs, perform failure analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and customer experience.

The role requires strong mechanical engineering expertise, hands-on problem solving, and mentoring of junior engineers.

Qualifications

Four-year or graduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or related discipline.
Typically has 7-10 years of work experience in mechanical design, quality engineering, root cause analysis, or related field.

Responsibilities

Provides technical analysis of compute products during NPI Phase through RFQ design proposal reviews, CAD reviews, and DFX product tear downs.
Provides advanced failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective/preventive actions for reliability concerns during development, manufacturing, and field operations.
Proactively addresses customer requests or issues related to mechanical reliability, liaising with stakeholders for timely resolution.
Provides consultation to product development teams regarding material component selection, design risk assessment, and related reliability test plans.
Develops risk mitigation and test plans for new or difficult issues and drives issue prevention.
Mentors less-experienced engineers in mechanical reliability and supports their growth.
