Qualifications

  • Cross-functional project management experience.
  • Experience in wire harness or cable assembly is a plus.

The Role:

The NPI Manufacturing Engineer will support the transition of new wire and cable assembly products from development to full-scale production within a contract manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring smooth new product introduction (NPI) processes, optimizing manufacturing operations, and improving production efficiencies while maintaining quality and cost-effectiveness.

This position will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.

This role is located on-site at the MRG facility in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the introduction of new wire and cable assembly products into manufacturing, ensuring seamless transition from prototype to full production.
  • Collaborate with product design, quality, and supply chain teams to develop scalable and manufacturable wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Develop and execute validation and qualification plans for new processes and equipment.
  • Establish process flows, work instructions, and documentation for new wire and cable products.
  • Design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for wire cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and connector assembly.
  • Conduct process validations and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Define and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to ensure consistency and quality in production.
  • Provide technical support for production teams, troubleshooting process-related issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Optimize factory layout, workflow, and ergonomics to improve operational efficiency in wire and cable assembly.
  • Drive lean manufacturing initiatives to eliminate waste and enhance production efficiency.
  • Identify and implement automation solutions for wire processing and assembly where feasible to improve production speed and quality.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and propose cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
  • Partner with sales/customers to meet design specifications, address manufacturability concerns, and ensure timely production readiness.
  • Participate in design reviews to provide feedback on manufacturability and cost optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620, UL, ISO, etc.).
  • Support audits and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain quality and compliance.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track process effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Communicate customer requirements, specifications, project schedule, and budget constraints to cross-functional teams, including engineers, senior management and consultants.
  • Assess causes of problems and provide technical support and direction to project team to resolve issues.
  • Maintain project plan documents, procedures, and project deliverables.
  • Conduct presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.
  • Assist in the management of larger projects/programs.
  • Recommend changes to policies which may affect subordinate organization(s).
  • Interact frequently with functional peer group managers. May interact with senior management; frequently interact with middle management and individual contributor groups as well as customers.

Education, Experience & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; equivalent work-related experience in lieu of degree
