Job summary

Electrical Components International (ECI) seeks a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize processes, lead new product introductions, and support daily production. You will work with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Knowledge of electrical manufacturing; harness fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD and Inventor) and MS Office.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

The Role

The Manufacturing Engineer will develop and implement efficient, cost-effective manufacturing processes that align with product specifications and quality standards. You will support new product introductions, drive continuous improvements, and work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. A key responsibility will be training operators and supporting daily production operations.

This position will report to the Vice President / General Manager, MRG & Britech.

This role is located on-site in Foxborough, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and implement manufacturing processes, workflows, and production line setups.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes using quality, efficiency, and throughput criteria.
  • Recommend and implement improvements related to manufacturability, quality, testability, and cost.
  • Study production, equipment, and machine requirements; design and install equipment as needed.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining PFMEAs, control plans, PPAPs, and other quality documentation.
  • Support testing and inspection activities.
  • Ensure manufacturing procedures comply with ISO/QS9000, safety requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Create and maintain operator assembly instructions, work instructions, and product audit procedures.
  • Load and manage BOMs within MRP/manufacturing systems.
  • Review customer documentation, drawings, and BOMs for accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Use AutoCAD and Inventor to modify DWG and STP files for documentation and process needs.
  • Maintain organized project files and engineering documentation.
  • Train operators on tooling, fixtures, jigs, assembly processes, and best practices.
  • Resolve production issues, quality concerns, and process deviations.
  • Drive internal cost-reduction efforts through process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Support supplier quality and delivery issues as needed.
  • Work directly with customer engineering, purchasing, and quality teams.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, quality, production, IT, and project teams to resolve issues and execute improvements.
  • Travel to customer, supplier, and manufacturing locations as needed to support builds, resolve issues, and participate in project reviews.
  • Plan, manage, and execute engineering projects from concept to completion.
  • Lead project teams, track performance, manage resources, and report progress and results.
  • Spearhead special engineering or operational projects assigned.
  • Oversee the Injection Mold area and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges.
  • Set up machinery for operation and operating equipment according to instructions.
  • Perform quality inspections of molded parts.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs on injection molding machinery.
  • Optimize mold tooling, cycle times, and material handling for efficiency and quality.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer (preferred).
  • Knowledge of electrical manufacturing; harness fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tooling principles.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, automation, and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred) and MS Office.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to collaborate with customers and internal teams.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and assembly-related issues to root cause.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and BOMs.
  • Ability to design with operator usability in mind.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
