Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks a Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner to enhance nursing and healthcare staff practice in ambulatory clinics. You will work under the Education Manager of Ambulatory CEPD, applying instructional design to close learning gaps and advance professional development.

Requirements include a Master's degree in a related field within 3 years, 3 years of relevant experience, RN licensure in Texas and BLS certification.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in related field within 3 years of hire.
  • 3 years of directly related experience, preferably in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Internal candidates without a Master's degree may be considered with a BSN and five (5) years of directly related experience (incl. 2 years UT Southwestern experience).
  • External candidates with a BSN may be considered with significant directly related experience exceeding the minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

  • NPD practitioner functions in roles: Learning facilitator, Change agent, Mentor, Leader, Champion for scientific inquiry, Advocate for NPD, Partner for practice transitions.
  • Uses the educational design process: assesses practice gaps, identifies learning needs, develops outcomes, plans activities, implements and evaluates.
  • Responsible for orientation/onboarding, competency management, education, professional role development, research/EBP/quality improvement, and collaborative partnerships.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including Nurse Planner activities within the UT Southwestern Accredited Provider Unit.
