Job summary

The Children’s Guild is seeking a compassionate School Nurse to join our school health program serving students at the Brooklyn Campus and Transformation Academy. You will provide health services, manage medical plans, document care, and collaborate with school psychiatrists and staff to support student well-being.

Ideal candidates hold a Maryland RN license with nursing experience in schools, CPR/First Aid certification, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Minimum of three years post-training experience in nursing in a school setting
  • Current Maryland RN license to practice nursing without restriction
  • Certified or eligible for CPR/First Aid
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivation, flexibility, and creativity to work independently on-site

Responsibilities

  • Provide health services and medical management as part of the school health team
  • Maintain student health files including physicals, immunizations, and emergency forms
  • Supervise Certified Medication Technicians (CMTs) and administer medications with proper documentation
  • Assess students during/after crises requiring restraints or therapeutic interventions
  • Collaborate with school psychiatrists and staff to support student health plans
  • Document notes/reports promptly including health suite visits
  • Provide staff training on health plans and student health topics

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as an essential member of the school team providing health service delivery to students, overseeing health education, and medical management
  • Maintain student health files including physicals, vaccination and immunization records, annual emergency forms, and dental records
  • Supervise Certified Medication Technicians (CMTs) and administer medications to students with proper documentation
  • Evaluate and assess children and adolescents during and after behavioral crises requiring restraints and/or therapeutic interventions
  • Work closely with and support The Children's Guild school psychiatrists
  • Write notes and reports in a timely manner including health suite visits
  • Provide professional development to staff in areas of expertise or on specific health plans for students
Location:

This position will serve both the Brooklyn Campus and Transformation Academy campuses

Qualifications
Ideal Candidates Have
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • A minimum of three years post-training experience in the provision of nursing services in a school setting
  • Current license as a registered nurse to practice nursing in the state of Maryland without restriction by the Maryland Board of Nursing
  • Certified or eligible for certification in CPR/First Aid
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivation, flexibility, and creativity to work independently on-site
