Job summary

The Children's Guild is seeking a School Nurse to join our health services team serving Baltimore campuses. You will manage student health, maintain records, and administer medications with proper documentation.

This on-site role requires a Maryland RN license and at least three years of nursing in schools. You will collaborate with school psychiatrists, provide staff education, and ensure timely health notes and reports.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate holds a nursing degree (Diploma/ADN/BSN).
  • Minimum of three years of post-training nursing experience in a school setting.
  • Current Maryland RN license without restriction.
  • Certified or eligible for CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Provide health services delivered within the school setting and manage medical plans.
  • Maintain student health records including immunizations and forms.
  • Supervise staff and administer medications with proper documentation.
  • Assess students during behavioral crises requiring restraints or interventions.
  • Collaborate with school psychiatrists and write timely health notes and reports.
  • Provide staff training on health plans and health-related topics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an essential member of the school team providing health service delivery to students, overseeing health education, and medical management
  • Maintain student health files including physicals, vaccination and immunization records, annual emergency forms, and dental records
  • Supervise Certified Medication Technicians (CMTs) and administer medications to students with proper documentation
  • Evaluate and assess children and adolescents during and after behavioral crises requiring restraints and/or therapeutic interventions
  • Work closely with and support The Children's Guild school psychiatrists
  • Write notes and reports in a timely manner including health suite visits
  • Provide professional development to staff in areas of expertise or on specific health plans for students

Location:

This position will serve both the Brooklyn Campus and Transformation Academy campuses

Qualifications

Ideal Candidates Have:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • A minimum of three years post-training experience in the provision of nursing services in a school setting
  • Current license as a registered nurse to practice nursing in the state of Maryland without restriction by the Maryland Board of Nursing
  • Certified or eligible for certification in CPR/First Aid
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivation, flexibility, and creativity to work independently on-site
