Job summary

Job description

The Observation Unit Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The NP or PA works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs. The position will cover multiple cardiac service lines where needed (Observation, HF/MI, and Cath lab).

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute care setting (hospital-based experience)
• Cardiology experience strongly preferred
• Current APP licensure and certification (ACNP or PA) in good standing
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication skills, proven team player, ability to multitask and prioritize, and proactive and creative problem-solver with a focus on process improvement, care coordination, and patient-centered solutions.

Evenings, per diem

• Every Third Weekend
• Holiday Work, Three of 6
• No On-Call Required

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• 1. Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program.
• 2. Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• 3. Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice.
• 4. Experience in a relevant patient care setting (or as regulations dictate).
• 5. National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• 6. Prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law.
• 7. Collaborative agreement with physicians on staff.
• 8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 9. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• 1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
• 2. New Jersey Advance Practice Nurse License.
• 3. BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
• 4. Board certified by AANP or ANCC.
• 5. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.

Required Qualifications

Education:

Successful completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education.

Licensure & Certifications:

• Current, unrestricted New Jersey Physician Assistant License.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer platforms, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
