Job summary

NYC Department of Social Services is actively recruiting NoVA/MRT-Consultation Unit Social Workers to provide crisis intervention, ongoing safety planning, and DV counseling at DHS intake centers and shelters. The role requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work and licensure within 12 months of appointment.

They will coordinate assessments for shelter placement, refer clients to social services, and maintain thorough records while collaborating with DHS staff across boroughs.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work from an accredited school.
• LMSW/LCSW license required within one year of appointment.
• Residency in NYC is generally required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual crisis intervention and short-term trauma counseling with ongoing safety planning.
• Conduct screening and assessments to determine DV shelter eligibility.
• Offer on-site counseling and formulate evaluation and treatment plans.
• Make referrals to social/other services and ensure service receipt.
• Maintain case records and provide DV consultation to DHS staff.
