Job summary

American Optical, based in Vernon Hills, Illinois, seeks an experienced Independent Sales Representative to grow wholesale business with specialty retailers across the Rockies territory.

The contractor will operate independently, identify new accounts, expand relationships, and represent the brand with professionalism. Significant travel and sample transport are expected to support business development and events.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of demonstrated success in outside, territory, wholesale, or account sales; optical industry experience is a plus.
• Proven ability to develop new business and grow existing accounts.
• Strong customer relationship and business-development skills.
• Experience independently managing a sales territory and customer pipeline.
• Familiarity with ordering platforms and business-to-business sales processes.
• Proficiency with commonly used business software, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong verbal, written, presentation, negotiation, and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain business relationships with specialty retailers and premium optical accounts across the assigned territory.
• Identify, qualify, and pursue prospective wholesale accounts and business opportunities.
• Present American Optical products, brand positioning, and value proposition to prospective and existing customers.
• Develop and execute an independent territory business-development strategy to increase wholesale sales and distribution.
• Cultivate existing accounts and identify opportunities for additional product placement and reorder business.
• Attend local, regional, and national trade shows and industry events as a representative.
