Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding, based in Edison, New Jersey, seeks an Ocean Route Development Manager to grow the business across North East trade lanes. You will align pricing, market intelligence, and sales efforts to build client relationships and drive profitable growth.

Ideal candidates have deep US ocean freight market knowledge, excellent communication, and cross-cultural collaboration skills. This role requires travel and a results-driven mindset to meet targets and deliver strategic trade lane

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a business discipline; 4+ years of related experience.
• Strong ocean freight product and pricing knowledge.
• Understanding of business development strategy and the sales process.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Interpersonal, conflict management, and negotiation abilities.
• Cross-cultural competence and sensitivity.
• Self-starter with planning and organizing skills.
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Fluent in English; other languages a plus.
• Travel less than 50%.

Responsibilities

• Act as Ocean Freight product champion and liaison between product, sales, customers and operations.
• Drive growth across ocean products within assigned trade lanes and support country growth plan.
• Guide local sales on what to sell and engage in customer opportunities.
• Collaborate with OCCs to review and finalize OFR rates.
• Develop product priorities and business plan for routes.
• Conduct market profiling and competitor analysis for opportunities.
• Coordinate with overseas RDMs per trade plan.
• Organize annual activities and campaigns to drive growth.
