Job summary

Smith+Nephew is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist in Andover, MA to ensure timely and compliant movement of goods across North America. You will manage customs clearance, import entry auditing, and broker relationships while handling HTS classification and COO determinations.

The role requires experience in customs operations, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with R&D, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams. Hybrid onsite work is expected.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in Trade Compliance or related field.
• Practical knowledge of U.S. customs requirements and import entry processes.
• HTS classification principles and ability to gather product information for analysis.
• Experience reviewing customs documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Support timely, compliant customs clearance of imports into the US and Canada.
• Review invoices, packing lists, documents, classification, value, COO, and trade program info.
• Respond to broker inquiries and documentation gaps; coordinate with stakeholders.
• Perform post-entry audits to verify classification, valuation, COO, and trade program eligibility.
• Maintain audit trackers, metrics, and supporting docs; support CPC/adjustments as needed.
• Manage day-to-day relations with customs brokers and ensure accurate data.
• Gather product specs and docs for HTS classification; document basis for decisions.
• Support COO determinations and COO and C-TPAT related activities.
