Job summary

Würth MRO, Safety, & Metalworking is seeking a Safety Director to lead the development, implementation, and management of the organization’s safety programs across all locations in the Columbus area. You will ensure compliance, drive continuous improvement, and foster a proactive safety culture.

You will design comprehensive policies, conduct risk assessments, oversee audits and investigations, deliver training, and coordinate regulatory reporting to OSHA and other authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in OH&S or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of experience in safety within logistics, warehousing, distribution, or manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety best practices.
• Ability to conduct audits, lead training, and influence frontline teams and leaders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
• OSHA 30-hour certification (General Industry).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures that comply with regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT).
• Ensure safety protocols are consistently applied across all departments and locations.
• Establish clear safety goals and objectives aligned with company priorities.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Lead incident investigations to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Lead and oversee routine safety audits, inspections, and reviews.
• Prepare reports on safety findings and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Coordinate submission of regulatory reports and documentation (e.g., OSHA logs, injury reports).
• Develop and deliver ongoing safety training programs for employees at all levels.
• Manage reporting, investigation, and documentation of workplace incidents.
• Collaborate with HR on workers' compensation claims and follow-up actions.
• Lead emergency response plans and drills across locations.
• Standardize safety SOPs and ensure alignment with company standards.
