North America Regional Transportation Manager Description - Job Summary

This role is responsible for leading the design and execution of HP's North America domestic surface transportation network across Full Truckload (FTL), Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), and specialized delivery services. The position plays a critical role in implementing a new Transportation Management System (TMS) in partnership with RMS (formerly C.H. Robinson) and in optimizing carrier relationships and performance through data-driven decision-making, cost control, and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • TMS Implementation Support: Partner with the Business Manager to support the deployment of HP's new TMS solution in collaboration with RMS (formerly C.H. Robinson). Drive configuration, testing, and integration activities to ensure a successful implementation aligned with business needs.
  • Domestic Surface Transportation Network Management: Full Truckload (FTL) & Intermodal (IMD): Collaborate closely with RMS to design and scale a robust FTL and IMD transportation network to support evolving business requirements.
  • Domestic Surface Transportation Network Management: Less-Than-Truckload (LTL): Manage relationships and performance with HP's primary LTL partners (FedEx Freight, Expeditors International, Tazmanian Freight Systems). Oversee Ryder-managed LTL operations (e.g., Estes as an Amazon-preferred carrier). Lead efforts to identify and integrate regional LTL carriers into HP's Greenfield initiative, transitioning from 21 DCs to 3 mega hubs.
  • Domestic Surface Transportation Network Management: White Glove Delivery: Oversee specialized delivery services for sensitive business segments (e.g., MPS, Indigo, Scitex). Manage relationships with white glove providers, including Expeditors, Tazmanian, CRST Specialized, TriAd, and Metro/SCI (Canada).
  • Procurement & Carrier Relationship Management: Act as the primary business owner of all NA carrier relationships (FedEx, UPS, Expeditors, Tazmanian, Ryder, etc.). Lead operational negotiations and partner with Procurement on cost-related initiatives to ensure competitiveness and service alignment.
  • Strategic Carrier Partnerships: Maintain and grow long-standing, strategic relationships with key partners. Oversee two Global Account Managers (GAMs) dedicated to managing our highest-priority carriers: Expeditors and FedEx.
  • Customer Experience & Operational Metrics (TCE): Own and report on Total Customer Experience (TCE) metrics. Identify root causes of service failures and provide weekly performance insights and improvement plans to senior leadership.
  • Cost Management & Visibility: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of transportation costs and cost drivers across all service lines. Develop and execute cost containment strategies to support budget goals.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management. Strong carrier management and contract negotiation experience. Data-driven decision-making skills and experience managing operational KPIs. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
