Job summary

Room to Read is seeking a Development Manager, North America, to cultivate and steward a portfolio of high-value donors in the United States and Canada. You will solicit renewals, upgrades, and new gifts while expanding the MNW program and building lasting donor relationships.

The role requires strong fundraising experience, excellence in communication, and a collaborative approach across Development and Programs. Base is in San Francisco with a focus on donor engagement and impact.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive fundraising or development experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
• Experience cultivating and stewarding individual donors, with exposure to major gifts.
• Experience managing donor relationships through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Experience supporting mid-level giving and donor upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of individual and institutional donors contributing to annual fundraising goals.
• Develop cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies based on donor history and capacity.
• Cultivate and steward donors across a range of giving levels, including major gifts.
• Build long-term donor relationships through in-person and virtual meetings.
• Maintain an active pipeline of prospective donors and move relationships toward solicitation.
• Maintain donor strategies and activity in Salesforce.
