Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Head of Construction Management for North America based in Pittsburgh, PA. This senior leadership role oversees construction management across the region, driving safe, on-time delivery of complex infrastructure and industrial projects and fostering client relationships.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in construction management with NA leadership experience, strong contract and risk management skills, and a PE license or PMP/CCM. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects in North America.
• Proven track record delivering complex, multi-million dollar projects on time and within budget.
• Strong understanding of North American construction regulations, codes, and permitting processes.
• Extensive experience in contract negotiation, procurement, and subcontractor management.
• Exceptional leadership, team-building, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and motivate diverse teams.
• Demonstrated expertise in project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and quality assurance.
• Willingness to travel extensively across North America as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement construction management strategies aligned with Hitachi’s global objectives and regional market demands.
• Lead and manage a team of construction professionals across North America, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration.
• Oversee all phases of construction projects from planning and design review through execution, commissioning, and closeout.
• Ensure strict adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
• Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in construction processes, technologies, and safety protocols.
• Negotiate and manage complex contracts with clients and subcontractors, ensuring favourable terms and compliance.
• Provide expert technical guidance and support to project teams, resolving complex construction challenges.
• Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to identify new business opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
• Prepare and present regular reports on project performance, financial status, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
• Champion Hitachi’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility in all construction activities.
