Job summary

Mount Saint Mary College seeks an Advisor/Navigator for the Non-Traditional Nursing Program in Newburgh, NY. The role supports recruitment, advisement, and retention of non-traditional nursing students, guiding them from entry to graduation and coordinating with the School of Nursing and Admissions.

The advisor will plan orientation, assist with course enrollment, manage student resources, and participate in SON planning and accreditation activities to improve programs and outcomes.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills with office applications and the ability to learn student information systems.
• Strong analytical skills for collecting and analyzing data and making recommendations.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as function as part of a team.
• Ability to work flexible hours, if necessary.

Responsibilities

• Serve as advisor/navigator for non-traditional students and coordinate with SON faculty to ensure efficient progression.
• Assist recruitment of non-traditional students with Admissions and Registrar, including at college and SON events.
• Guide admitted students and those in transition to enroll in courses and plan degree completion goals.
• Organize orientation programs for non-traditional students.
• Collaborate with college offices to connect students with resources for success.
• Maintain a database/spreadsheet of information on each advisee as the designated advisor/navigator.
• Assist advisees with form submissions to the School of Nursing and Academic Standards Committee.
• Participate in School of Nursing meetings and contribute to recruitment planning.
