Job summary

Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) seeks a full-time Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team in Seattle. The role focuses on payroll processing, AP/AR, and supporting the annual audit within a nonprofit setting.

The ideal candidate brings 1+ year of accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and strong organization skills to help NWIRP sustain high-quality financial operations across four offices. A minimum two-year commitment is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in accounting preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
• Minimum of 1+ year accounting experience, nonprofit sector preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP, accounts receivable/payable, and payroll.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to organize information clearly.
• Able to work with detailed information accurately and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll for all staff, including overtime and bonuses.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and 1099s.
• Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts monthly.
• Assist with annual audit and tax preparation as needed.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
