Job summary

Lee Hecht Harrison Nederland B.V. in Hackensack, NJ is seeking a Staff Accountant to support general ledger activities, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, grant accounting, and audit support within a mission-driven nonprofit.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of progressive accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative nonprofit environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 2–5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including reconciliations and month-end close.
• Experience with financial statement preparation and reporting.
• Working knowledge of payroll accounting.
• Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles preferred.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly general ledger, bank, and cash reconciliations.
• Prepare payroll-related journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analyses.
• Support monthly and annual financial statement preparation and supporting schedules.
• Coordinate with external auditors and provide audit documentation.
