Job summary

Lee Hecht Harrison Nederland B.V. is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong nonprofit and grant accounting background to safeguard financial records and ensure grant compliance. You will support month-end close, reporting, and audits, coordinating with program managers and external auditors.

The role requires GAAP knowledge, fund accounting expertise, and advanced Excel skills to analyze budgets and variances. NYC-area position with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 3+ years nonprofit accounting and grant accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting.
• Experience managing government-funded grants and contracts.
• Extensive month-end close experience.
• Experience supporting annual audits and preparing audit schedules.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis functions.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the financial administration of federal, state, city, and private foundation grants.
• Monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with funding requirements and budgets.
• Prepare and maintain grant budgets, spending analyses, and reimbursement requests.
• Perform grant reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Assist program managers with grant budget monitoring and forecasting.
• Support grant reporting and maintain documentation for funder reviews and audits.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, allocations, and reconciliations.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and analyze financial results.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Assist with board, management, and funder reporting requirements.
• Support annual budgets and forecasts.
• Coordinate audit schedules and documentation for annual audits and Single Audits.
• Serve as liaison with external auditors and ensure GAAP compliance.
