Job summary

CFS in Stow, Ohio is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting in a nonprofit environment, focusing on fund and grant accounting, GL maintenance, and month-end close.

You will work with leadership and program teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds, while assisting with grant budgets and reporting for government agencies and foundations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Nonprofit, fund accounting, or grant accounting exposure a plus.
• Experience with restricted funds, grant budgets, or grant reporting preferred.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly general ledger close and journal entry preparation.
• Perform account reconciliations, including cash, grants receivable, prepaid expenses, and balance sheet accounts.
• Support accounting and tracking for restricted and unrestricted funds.
• Assist with grant accounting, including recording grant revenue and tracking grant-related expenditures.
• Monitor grant budgets and compare actual expenses to approved funding levels.
• Ensure expenses are properly coded and allocated to the appropriate grant, program, department, or funding source.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual grant financial reporting.
• Prepare grant-related schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
