Job summary

The Cleveland Foundation is seeking an Accountant to maintain the integrity of financial operations, donor fund stewardship, and grant-related accounting. You will work across gifts, grants, investments, and asset management to ensure accurate records and timely reporting.

This role requires strong analytical skills, detail orientation, and adherence to internal controls and policies within a collaborative community foundation environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably nonprofit.
• Working knowledge of GAAP, fund and grants accounting, and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Process and record gifts, grants, and donor transactions accurately.
• Reconcile donor fund activity across accounts and ledgers.
• Post cash receipts and reconcile bank activity with GL accounts.
• Prepare reconciliations and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
• Assist with donor statements, fund reporting, and audit readiness.
• Support investment accounting and coordination with external managers.
