Job summary

Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County is seeking a Temporary Accountant to support the Finance team during a staff leave. The role handles contract and grant billing, revenue and AR reconciliations, and budget monitoring.

You will work within internal controls and meet monthly close deadlines, reporting to the Controller. The position emphasizes accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality of financial information.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of nonprofit accounting including ASC 958, fund accounting, and restricted/unrestricted revenue.
• Experience with grant/contract billing, revenue recognition, AR management, and related schedules.
• Experience supporting month-end close and reconciliations.
• Proficient with Excel and ability to work independently with minimal onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile billed and unbilled contract and grant revenue to GL and funder portals.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of billing-related accounts and address discrepancies.
• Prepare budget-to-actual analyses by program and contract; explain variances.
• Monitor grant budgets, spending rates, time restrictions, and compliance requirements.
• Support month-end close for billing, revenue accruals, and related schedules.
• Assist with forecasts and budgets for assigned programs.
