Job summary

Gene Slay's Girls & Boys Club in St. Louis is seeking a GL Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization and maintain the general ledger.

You will post journal entries, handle accounts payable/receivable and payroll, and code invoices to the correct location and department. The role requires 4-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit settings, and proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 4-7 years’ experience in accounting and reporting, nonprofit sectors preferred.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Must be skilled in Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel).
• Professional environment and compliance with health and employment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Full general ledger accounting in QuickBooks Online, including posting transactions via journal entries and coding invoices to correct location and departments.
• Prepare invoices for pledges and other accounts receivable, track and follow-up on late accounts in conjunction with the development team.
• Establish and maintain a cash flow forecast for the agency.
• Process purchase orders to prepare for approval.
• Ensure payroll is coded to correct department and location; biweekly journal entries and month-end accrual.
• Manage vendor invoices to be paid in a timely manner.
• Maintain bank records, reconcile accounts monthly.
• Coordinate annual audit and prepare documents for 990 tax forms.
• Prepare financial statements, budgets, and financial reports.
• Support grant reporting and track designated funding allocations.
