Job summary

Shepeard Community Blood Center seeks a Fleet/Facilities Assistant to ensure smooth operation of mobile blood collection vehicles and fixed sites. Responsibilities include vehicle maintenance, supplies, and facilities upkeep in a healthcare nonprofit setting.

The role requires 3–5 years of fleet/facility management experience, strong DOT knowledge, and a valid CDL. Expect coordination with blood drive teams and vendors, plus after-hours support when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational experience in automotive, carpentry, building repairs, and purchasing preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fleet and/or facility management, preferably in a healthcare or nonprofit environment.
• Strong understanding of DOT compliance and building systems.
• Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with maintenance management software, Microsoft Office, procurement, and fleet tracking tools.
• Computer skills needed to manage the inventory system, QC records, and logs.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
• Must meet driver history and safety requirements to be covered by Shepeard’s group auto insurance policy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance, inspection, and repair schedules for all mobile blood collection vehicles and support fleet.
• Ensure vehicles comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT requirements.
• Maintain records of mileage, fuel usage, inspections, repairs, and registration.
• Coordinate vehicle availability and rotation with mobile blood drive teams.
• Negotiate contracts for vehicle maintenance with service vendors.
• Serve as the primary contact for mobile Blood Mobile vehicles and support fleet.
• Train staff on vehicle operation, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
• Supervise maintenance and repairs of building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and exteriors.
• Conduct facility inspections for safety, security, and compliance.
• Coordinate janitorial services, landscaping, and waste management.
• Ensure donor areas and storage spaces meet cleanliness and standards.
• Handle building emergencies and upgrades; train staff accordingly.
• Assist with setup of blood drive supplies and after-hours responses.
