Job summary

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial operations, planning, and reporting. You will partner with senior leadership to drive the organization’s financial strategy, forecasting, and risk management to support mission delivery in the La Crosse area.

The role requires nonprofit financial leadership, strong communication, and a track record in budgeting and financial planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent; non-profit experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, management, and supervisory skills with the ability to guide teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; clear stakeholder interactions.
• Analytical abilities to interpret financial data and present insights.
• Sound judgement, independent work style in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail to ensure timely, professional completion of duties.
• Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for strategic objectives.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks Online and financial apps; CRM familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and auditing.
• Ensure timely reporting of financial statements to stakeholders.
• Manage cash flow and forecasting.
• Oversee contracts with third-party subcontractors (non-construction).
• Develop and implement the financial strategy and long-term planning.
• Partner with senior leadership for operational and strategic financial insights.
