Housing Solutions for the Southwest in Durango, CO, is seeking a Finance & Operations Director to lead financial management and operational systems. This full-time role reports to the Executive Director and supervises the Finance Lead and Intake Coordinators.

The position emphasizes strong GAAP compliance, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and collaboration with leadership to support community housing programs. On-site work is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, nonprofit management, or related field.
• Experience managing financial operations, budgets, and reporting in complex orgs.
• Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting, GAAP, financial controls, and restricted funding.
• Experience developing budgets and communicating financial info to non-financial audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of financial management, budgets, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reporting aligned with GAAP and nonprofit standards.
• Coordinate annual budget development with leadership and department heads.
• Prepare regular financial analyses and reports for executive decision-making.
• Support external auditors and implement audit recommendations.
• Improve financial policies, procedures, and systems to strengthen effectiveness.
• Maintain strong internal controls over cash management, purchasing, and documentation.
