Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years nonprofit development, advancement services, gift processing, accounting, finance, donor relations, or related field.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or Raiser’s Edge NXT strongly preferred.
  • Experience with gift processing, account reconciliation, financial reporting, or donor data management.

Responsibilities

  • Process and reconcile gifts, pledges, grants, and restricted funds with accuracy and donor intent.
  • Enter, maintain, track, and reconcile gift activity in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Ensure donor and gift data accuracy across Raiser’s Edge NXT and accounting systems.
  • Prepare financial reports, fund statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for leadership review.
  • Prepare fundraising progress reports, data analysis, and dashboards to monitor performance.
  • Process vendor payments, reimbursements, contracts, and other development expenditures with proper documentation.
  • Support gift acknowledgments, donor communications, and stewardship activities.
  • Assist with audits, tax reporting, and compliance requirements as needed.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Nonprofit Finance, Gift and Development Specialist:
  • Process and reconcile gifts, pledges, grants, and restricted funds while ensuring accuracy and adherence to donor intent.
  • Enter, maintain, track, and reconcile gift activity in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Ensure accurate and timely donor and gift data across Raiser’s Edge NXT and accounting systems.
  • Prepare financial reports, fund statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for internal and leadership review.
  • Prepare fundraising progress reports, data analysis, and dashboards to help monitor fundraising and campaign performance.
  • Process vendor payments, reimbursements, contracts, and other Development-related expenditures with appropriate documentation.
  • Support gift acknowledgments, donor communications, and stewardship activities.
  • Assist with gift transmittals, reporting, and resolution of discrepancies between Development and Finance.
  • Collaborate with Development, Finance, and program teams to ensure accurate financial and donor information.
  • Assist with audits, tax reporting, and other compliance requirements as needed.
  • Maintain data integrity and accurate donor records within Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Help develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures for Development operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and data accuracy.
  • Provide responsive support to internal teams, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications of the Nonprofit Finance, Gift and Development Specialist:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in nonprofit development, advancement services, gift processing, accounting, finance, donor relations, or a related field.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or Raiser’s Edge NXT strongly preferred.
  • Experience with gift processing, account reconciliation, financial reporting, or donor data management.
  • Strong understanding of Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook.
  • Experience reconciling data between a CRM/database and accounting or financial systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising operations, donor-restricted funds, or fund accounting preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional, collaborative, and service-oriented approach when working with donors, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling financial and donor information.
