Organization Overview

A well-established nonprofit organization in New York City is seeking a Nonprofit Development Manager to join its fundraising and community engagement team. Serving a diverse and highly engaged membership base, the organization is committed to fostering meaningful connections, delivering impactful programs, and strengthening long-term philanthropic support.

Reporting to the Director of Development, this position plays an integral role in donor cultivation, fundraising campaigns, special events, and community engagement initiatives.

Position Summary

The Nonprofit Development Manager will help execute the organization's annual fundraising strategy by cultivating donor relationships, coordinating development campaigns, planning fundraising events, and supporting donor stewardship initiatives. This role partners closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to enhance donor engagement while contributing to annual fundraising goals and long-term organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Development
  • Assist in planning and executing annual fundraising campaigns and appeals
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors through strategic outreach and relationship building
  • Maintain accurate donor records, pledge tracking, and gift documentation within the CRM database
  • Conduct prospect research to identify new donors, assess giving capacity, and support cultivation strategies
  • Prepare fundraising reports and analyze donor engagement trends
Campaign & Event Management
  • Coordinate fundraising campaigns, donor communications, and annual giving initiatives
  • Plan and execute donor cultivation events, recognition programs, and community gatherings
  • Manage event logistics including budgets, timelines, vendor coordination, guest lists, and volunteer support
  • Support annual fundraising events through sponsorship outreach, auction coordination, marketing materials, and committee engagement
  • Assist with special fundraising initiatives, planned giving efforts, and sponsorship opportunities
Donor Stewardship & Community Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders
  • Develop initiatives that strengthen donor engagement and encourage long-term philanthropic support
  • Partner with internal departments to deliver an exceptional donor and member experience
  • Support membership retention and community engagement initiatives
Marketing & Communications
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to develop fundraising collateral, invitations, email campaigns, newsletters, and website content
  • Assist in producing donor recognition publications and annual reports
  • Help ensure consistent messaging across fundraising and engagement initiatives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising, development, donor relations, or special events experience
  • Demonstrated success building donor and community relationships
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Experience coordinating fundraising events and donor engagement initiatives
