Position Summary

Carnegie Hill Neighbors seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Development Manager to support the organization's fundraising, membership, and donor stewardship efforts. Reporting to the Director of Development & Communications, the Development Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administration of CHN's development program, ensuring the accurate management of donor data, timely gift processing and acknowledgments, membership renewals, fundraising reporting, and operational support for campaigns and events.

The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and service-oriented, with strong database management skills and a commitment to providing exceptional experience for members, donors, sponsors, and volunteers.

Primary Responsibilities
Development Operations & Membership
  • Manage CHN's donor and membership database, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Process memberships, donations, sponsorships, event revenue, and other contributions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reconcile fundraising revenue with financial records and work closely with staff on gift tracking and reporting.
  • Prepare and distribute donor acknowledgments, tax receipts, membership cards, renewal notices, and stewardship correspondence.
  • Manage membership renewals and lapsed-member outreach.
  • Maintain systems for tracking donors, sponsors, prospects, pledges, grants, and fundraising activity.
  • Generate regular fundraising, membership, and donor reports for the Director of Development & Communications and Executive Director.
  • Conduct donor and prospect research to support cultivation and fundraising strategies.
  • Assist with grant tracking, proposal preparation, reporting, and foundation stewardship.
  • Coordinate donor stewardship activities, including personalized follow-up and recognition.
  • Maintain accurate fundraising calendars, campaign timelines, and development records.
Campaign & Event Support
  • Provide operational support for membership campaigns, annual appeals, fundraising events, sponsorships, and special initiatives.
  • Coordinate mailing lists, campaign data, pledge tracking, RSVP management, and event registration.
  • Assist in preparing fundraising materials, sponsorship packets, and campaign reports.
  • Work closely with the Director of Development & Communications to ensure fundraising campaigns are implemented efficiently and on schedule.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of donor information and organizational records.
  • Develop and improve systems that increase efficiency and strengthen development operations.
  • Assist with Board and committee materials related to fundraising and membership.
  • Perform other development and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Two to five years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising operations, membership, or donor services.
  • Experience working with donor databases (DonorPerfect preferred) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to build positive relationships with donors, members, sponsors, and volunteers.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and volunteers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with nonprofit membership organizations.
  • Familiarity with fundraising reporting, donor stewardship, and gift processing.
