Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is assisting a nonprofit client in Staatsburg, NY, in search of an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations. This hands-on leadership role oversees month-end close, internal controls, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, nonprofit knowledge, and strong Excel/ERP skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with audits, budgeting, and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, GL, payroll, and cash management.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate account reconciliations.
• Oversee grants accounting and reporting, as applicable.
• Coordinate the annual audit and serve as primary contact with external auditors.
