Job summary

Job Board in Midtown Manhattan is seeking a senior finance leader to oversee A/P, A/R, cash forecasting, and payroll review. You will manage a team of 10+ accountants, ensuring timely monthly closings and accurate general ledger entries.

The role requires nonprofit supervisory experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to implement internal controls while staging accurate financial statements for management review.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, plus at least five years of directly related nonprofit experience in a supervisory role.
• Experience managing finance department staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, complaint resolution, and problem solving.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and all Microsoft Suite products.
• Knowledge of MIP Accounting Software a plus.
• Able to multi-task and work independently with great attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) processes, including invoice processing and approvals.
• Manage cash flow, disbursements, account balances, and short-term forecasting.
• Prepare and approve monthly journal entries, accruals, prepaids, allocations, and payroll-related entries.
• Perform timely bank and credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Lead the monthly close process with reconciliations, accruals, and GL review.
• Maintain organized accounting records and schedules per GAAP and nonprofit standards.
• Assist with monthly financial statements and management reports, explaining variances.
• Establish internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
