Job summary

Red Envelope Consulting's nonprofit client in Indianapolis seeks a seasoned Controller to lead financial operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reporting under U.S. GAAP. The role drives close processes, payroll, cash management, and internal controls across entities.

The ideal candidate brings 5–7 years in accounting/finance, nonprofit experience, and a BA in accounting or finance. CPA is preferred; strong Excel/Word skills are required. Hybrid work, downtown Indianapolis.

Qualifications

• Oversee all accounting operations and month-end close.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in not-for-profit accounting and donor-restricted revenue preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills for coaching staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger, payables/receivables, payroll, fixed assets, and cash flow.
• Lead monthly close, journal entries, and reconciliations with accuracy.
• Oversee audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Develop strong internal controls and process improvements.
