Job summary

Your Part-Time Controller LLC in the Boston area seeks a hands-on Controller for nonprofit clients. You will lead financial operations on multiple engagements, deliver clear internal and board reporting, and help improve controls, processes, and compliance.

The role is hybrid with a full-time schedule and strong benefits, including professional development and competitive compensation. CPA is a plus; experience with QuickBooks and grant reporting is valuable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5–7+ years accounting experience.
• Experience with remote environment preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and work independently.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with QuickBooks and electronic bill pay.
• Nonprofit accounting/public accounting/consulting is a plus.
• Experience with Massachusetts UFR and grant reporting is a plus.
• Interest or experience in AI/automation for accounting is a plus.
• CPA certification is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Part-time employees work during normal business hours.

Responsibilities

• Serve as outsourced Controller/CFO for multiple nonprofit clients.
• Transform client financial departments to support mission.
• Prepare financial reporting for management and Board decisions.
• Recommend and implement improvements to accounting, operations, and internal controls.
• Handle A/P, A/R, payroll, general accounting, reconciliations, month-end close.
• Conduct analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and data visualization.
• Manage grant reporting and funder reporting.
• Prepare for and manage annual audit.
• Provide client and staff training opportunities.
